Dr Oliver Bernath

Dr Bernath is a Consultant Neurologist and Sleep Disorders Specialist based in London and the South East of England.

Oliver has focused most of his medical career on Sleep Disorders and epilepsy. He obtained certifications in Sleep Medicine by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the European Sleep Research Society and the German Sleep Society. He also completed US board certifications in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy. He is also a member of the British Sleep Society.

He originally graduated from the University of Ulm (Germany) as a scholar of the German Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes) and obtained a doctorate in muscle physiology. He completed his postgraduate education in London, at the University of Chicago, and at the University of California San Francisco / Stanford Medical Center. In Sleep Medicine, he was able to train with the pioneers and founding fathers of sleep science.

While covering the whole spectrum of Sleep Disorders (incl. Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, Restless Legs Syndrome, Narcolepsy, etc.), he also focuses on insomnia, dreaming, and performance optimisation.
For his research in epilepsy and in sleep medicine, Dr Bernath was rewarded with research prizes in the US. Dr Bernath is a frequent speaker in podcasts and online sleep courses.
