Stomach Liposuction Surgery

While maintaining a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly has clear benefits on our health, sometimes it may not be enough to rid fat from those stubborn areas. This is why several people have turned to liposuction treatments in the UK.

Stomach liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the UK, and according to the ASPS, almost 250,000 people had liposuction surgery last year. Liposuction is able to treat several areas of the body and is renowned for its ability to achieve the patient’s desired aesthetic expectations.

What is Stomach Liposuction?

All liposuction procedures focus on removing stubborn areas of fat from different parts of the body. Stomach liposuction is one of the more common liposuction procedures as it targets one of the toughest areas to remove fat; the stomach.

Stomach liposuction is one of the most successful cosmetic procedures for removing fat and enhancing the appearance of your stomach. Patients are reminded that stomach liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss, nor can it treat cellulite or stretch marks.

What does Stomach Liposuction Involve?

All liposuction procedures begin with a consultation with your selected surgeon. The consultation is an incredibly important part of your surgical journey, as this is where you will be able to ask questions surrounding your surgery and your surgeon will explain the procedure in detail. Your surgeon will then make markings on your stomach to guide the operation and give you an idea of your results post-procedure.

The surgery begins with your surgeon injecting your stomach with fluid and adrenaline to help reduce bleeding and any discomfort. Then, a few small incisions will be made and the cannula will be inserted and begin breaking up the fat inside your stomach. The cannula will move back and forth, and a vacuum will help remove the fat. Once the necessary fat has been removed, your incisions will be sewn up.

Note: Each patient will experience a different liposuction treatment depending on their individual requirements. No liposuction treatment is the same and no single technique works for all patients.

How Long Does Stomach Liposuction Take?

Each patient will experience a different liposuction treatment, meaning how long you spend in surgery varies depending on your individual requirements. Your surgeon will be able to give you an idea of how long your surgery will take during your consultation.

The price of your stomach liposuction will vary depending on your specific requirements. You will be given a price for your surgery during your consultation.

Choosing your Surgeon

Choosing your surgeon is one of the most important parts of your liposuction journey. Liposuction procedures are very personal, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with your decision and your chosen surgeon.

As all liposuction procedures are deemed elective, it’s unlikely that it will be covered by your insurance. However, The McIndoe Centre are able to help with financing your stomach liposuction treatment.

All consultants at The McIndoe Centre are fully accredited and are on the specialist register of the General Medical Council. A number of our consultants who specialise in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery are also members of leading professional bodies such as BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons) or BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons).

Stomach Liposuction Aftercare

After your surgery, you will need to wear support and compression bandages. This is to help reduce swelling, bruising and generally aid your recovery process. Your consultant will also prescribe you medication for up to two weeks to help with any discomfort. Depending on the extent of your surgery, you may be required to stay overnight. Someone will also need to drive you home after your surgery and we suggest that all patients avoid any strenuous activity for two to three weeks to ensure you make a full recovery. You can expect a full recovery within six months.

What are the Benefits of Stomach Liposuction?

The aim of all liposuction procedures is to remove fat from stubborn areas of the body to leave you with a thinner, healthier appearance. Immediately after your surgery, your results will be noticeable. However, swelling and bruising will follow shortly and you will only be able to witness your full, healed results approximately six months later. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, weight and diet will also improve your results.

Remember: Liposuction cannot be used to treat or remove cellulite, stretch-marks or used as a treatment to tackle obesity or a weight-loss alternative. If your surgeon believes you are not an appropriate candidate for a liposuction procedure because of any of these reasons, they may refuse to operate.
